Angels Don't Buzz

An absurdist black comedy by Alexander Seliverstov, conceived and shot just one week after the premiere of "Molodi" at MIFF. The title was born spontaneously in the mountains of Nalchik: someone buzzed, someone said "it's an angel buzzing," and the director replied: "Angels don't buzz." That's how the film got its name. Shooting stretched over nearly two years due to financing issues and actor availability, and post-production also took a long time. The result — the most successful festival film of any we've made in Russia: over 10 international festivals. The international premiere took place in Bishkek, followed by Spain (Galacticat), Italy (Cineo), and Bangladesh — a major festival. The Russian premiere was held at the Gorky Fest in Nizhny Novgorod in 2024. The film was released in theaters on September 18, 2025, in 30 Russian cities and ran for nearly 60 days — a record for my films in terms of duration, the director notes. The cast includes Anya Savranskaya (who later appeared in "Ice-3" and "Method-3"), Ulyana Pylaeva, and Pyotr Rykov. At the premiere in Nizhny Novgorod, one audience member said through tears: "Thank you, your film gave me back my faith in life."
