The Wind Has No Tail

A story about the Yamal nomads, their children, and an extraordinary phenomenon — nomadic teachers who live and teach alongside families right in the tundra. The main character is Nika, a nomad's daughter who will go to school for the first time this year and is preparing to leave for a boarding school. The film's idea came from Arseny Polushkin, who worked as a producer at Human for several years before moving into directing. The project was supported by the Gorky Film Studio and received funding from the Russian Ministry of Culture. The shoot took place in extreme conditions: the crew lived and traveled with the family, with each expedition lasting one to two weeks. The film became a triumph at the "Message to Man" International Film Festival in St. Petersburg, winning the Grand Prix. Critics named it one of the best Russian films of the year.
